We met at Denny's restaurant in Richland, WA at 10:00 a.m. for a late breakfast where we hashed out the last minute details. With the day's predicted high temperature of 32 degrees Farenheit, we opted for a fairly short ride of about 30 miles. Present for breakfast were Butch, Naomi, John, Angela and Ralph.  There were three *no shows* for breakfast. One had mechanical problems and the other two were MIA. However, after leaving breakfast we picked up Jake [one of the MIAs] but weren't sure who we was until we stopped at Col Solare. This also is when we learned that Ralph had headed on without us but he'd given us fair warning that if he got cold he would break off from the pack. Col Solare is the yet to be opened *wine destination* on State Hi-way 224 between West Richland and Benton City. Their building has high stone walls in front, lots of stairs, lights and an elevator which appears to be within reach of the handicap parking. Could Col Solare be the first Washington State winery with an elevator?  John and Naomi shoot the breeze while Jake and Angela explore. After the Col Solare visit, we rode to Benton City and took Badger Road back to Naomi's house in Kennewick. Jake picked up the tab for a gallon of milk so that we could have hot cocoa and warm conversation at Naomi's. This was a chilly ride but a great way to start the new year! |
